HISTORY

HISTORY

In November 1971, Miroku Kikai (Miroku Machine Tool, Inc.) became independent from Production Engineering Division of Miroku Firearms Mfg. Co.
Through the mass-production of firearms, we had accumulated know-hows designing, remodeling and fabricating various machinery tools and jigs for specific use on the firearms production line.
Two founders, Mr. Chiyoki Ido (the then president of Miroku Firearms Mfg.) and Mr. Fukami (the then manager of the production engineering division of Miroku Firearms Mfg., and the 2nd president of Miroku Machine Tool, Inc. later), decided to establish Miroku Kikai (Miroku Machine Tool, Inc.), as a new company, prospecting that this versatile technology of designing/fabricating whatever we want on our own should be widely deployed to other businesses or industries. Then, after Miroku Firearms Mfg relocated to Nankoku-city, most of the functions of this division had remained there and started their own history.

When the company was first set up, most of its operations were still for Miroku Firearms Mfg, while on the other hand. We were groping for a market for their original products. In 1976, a deep hole drilling machine, developed based on the gun drill machines for firearms production, was launched for one of the major automobile manufacturers and earned high acclaim. This triggered orders one after another from many automobile-related manufacturers and mold industry etc.
In 1981, Miroku Kikai (Miroku Machine Tool, Inc.) established Miroku Kihan (Miroku Machine Tool, Inc.) in Tokyo. In 1984, Eldorado, a US gun drill manufacturer and Miroku Machine Tool, Inc. have established a joint partnership. We also started the consigned business of deep hole processing using our products. In 1986, the head office and factories were relocated to its current location in Nankoku-city, and Tool Division for producing specific tools for gun drilling was newly established at the former head office/factories site, paving the way for the diversified deep hole machinery manufacturer that provides a rich array of the related products.
In 1986, we entered the lapping industry and started processing contracts lapping and polishing. The factory dedicated to lapping plate was operated in 2007.

As of 2019, 7 factories and 2 sales offices are in operation in Japan and are striving to develop the new technology for the next generation.
In just over 10 years since its first launch in 1976, we gained a position as the top manufacturer of gun drilling machines, and boasts a close to monopoly share in Japan, nowadays.

  • Miroku Machine Tool, Inc., relocated from Kochi-city to Nankoku-city in 1986 and completed the 2nd extension construction in Aug. 1991
  • Mr. Kozaburo FUKAMI, the 2nd president, who contributed the growth to the top of the gun drilling machine manufacturer.
  • Model MIG, gun drilling machine for the automobile industry, utilizing deep-hole drilling techniques to process the barrel bore of firearms. This model is the de facto standard for both automobile and mold industries and led to a position as the top manufacturer of deep hole drilling machinery in Japan.
